In a recent report, Goal.com mentioned that Arsenal are eager to recruit Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer. It has been stated that the Gunners have identified the Spanish talent as a target for the upcoming transfer window.

Zubimendi’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football

The 25-year-old is having a solid campaign at the Spanish club as he has put in a run of impressive performances for them in the middle of the park. Zubimendi has made 45 appearances for Real Sociedad this season, finding the back of the net four times and earning one assist across all fronts.

The Spanish midfield ace has given a good account of himself based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 1.7 clearances per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from midfield after making 86.4% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Spanish club will expire in the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Gunners to get a deal done for him on the cheap later this year.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Bring Zubimendi On Board?

Zubimendi is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.

The Spanish midfielder is a tidy passer of the ball as well and can chip in by scoring a few important goals for his team. He mainly operates as a defensive midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder if needed.

Zubimendi would add more bite and steel to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s midfield department. He could go on to form a solid midfield partnership with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard at the North London club in the coming seasons.

At 25, Zubimendi has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Gunners to pursue later this summer. He might even help Arsenal challenge for some major honours in the future. Thus, Arteta should focus on getting Zubimendi on board soon.
