Charlton Athletic have a big few months ahead now as they prepare for their first full campaign under the guidance of Nathan Jones.

The former Luton Town, Stoke City and Southampton boss has done a decent job since taking over from Michael Appleton and will be eager to put more of his own stamp on the squad.

Godden could be seen as someone to bolster their attacking department and inject some more experience into their ranks.

He has been on the books at Coventry City since 2019 and has been a great servant to the Sky Blues over the past five years.

The Canterbury-born man has made 155 appearances for Mark Robins’ side in all competitions and has scored 50 goals.

Godden has helped his current club win promotion from League One, reach the Championship play-off final and the FA Cup semi-final during his time at the CBS Arena.

Prior to his move there, he had spells at Scunthorpe United, Ebbsfleet United, Stevenage and Peterborough United.

He has found the net on nine occasions for Coventry City this term which shows he still knows where the back of the net is in the second tier so he would be an eye-catching addition in the league below by Charlton Athletic if they got him.
