Charlton Athletic are interested in a move for Coventry City striker Matt Godden, according to a report by London News Online.

Charlton Athletic are believed to be admirers of the Championship man ahead of this summer.

Godden, 32, still has another year left on his contract with the Sky Blues.

Here is a look at three players who the Addicks should target instead of him in the upcoming window…

Jonson Clarke Harris

The Peterborough United man is a proven goal scorer at League One level and would add more firepower to Charlton Athletic’s options at the top end of the pitch. He has been linked with a switch to The Valley in the past, as per a report by the Peterborough Telegraph.

Clarke-Harris, who is 29-years-old, has scored 87 goals in 186 games so far for the Posh since joining them in 2020. He has also played for the likes of Coventry City, Rotherham United and Bristol Rovers in the past.

Who is this?

Stephen Humphrys

He has enjoyed a new lease of life at Wigan Athletic under Shaun Maloney in this past campaign. He was loaned out to Hearts in 2022 and it looked like his time at the DW Stadium was coming to an end.

However, the Oldham-born man has found the net on 11 occasions for the Latics since his return from Edinburgh. However, his contract is up at the end of next month and he should considered by Charlton Athletic on a free transfer.

Devante Cole

Like Humphrys, he is due to become a free agent in late June. His deal at Barnsley is coming to an end soon and it remains to be seen whether he will be staying put at Oakwell or heading out the exit door.

His immediate focus will be on helping the Tykes win promotion as they prepare to face Bolton Wanderers in the play-offs. Cole has fired 36 goals in 127 outings for his current club and knows what the back of the net is at third tier level.
