Serbia breaks ground on construction of 60,000-seat national stadium in Belgrade

May 3 – Serbia has begun construction of its new national stadium with a breaking ground ceremony involving the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic,

Dragan Dzajic, president of the Serbian Football Union (FSS), the Ambassador of China in Serbia, as well as a number of other high-ranking figures from the Serbian government.

According to Vucic, the construction of the new facility should be completed by December 1, 2026. He added that the final of the Europa League will be played there in 2028 after "agreement" with the president of UEFA Aleksandar Ceferin.
