Chris Sutton has lauded one Nottingham Forest man after his display in the second half of Saturday’s 3-1 win over Sheffield United.

The Reds came from a goal behind to claim a big three points at Bramall Lane.

Forest won thanks to a brace from Callum Hudson-Odoi. His goals came either side of a first Premier League goal for Ryan Yates.

Chris Wood and Joe Worrall praised the academy graduate for his first goal. However, it wasn’t Yates who earned praise from Sutton.

Chris Sutton hails Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

It won’t come as too much of a surprise that Morgan Gibbs-White is the man in for praise.

Gibbs-White signed for Forest for an initial £25 million from Wolves in the summer of 2022 and he’s been brilliant.

Michael Dawson called Gibbs-White ‘magnificent’ after the latest win for Forest and he’s clearly an important player.

The 24-year-old really did turn it on in the second half. He kept probing even when the Reds held a two-goal lead.

Sutton was clearly impressed too and it was Gibbs-White that he picked out for praise after the Forest victory.

He told BBC Sport: “Morgan Gibbs-White was excellent with a really big performance in the second half.”

Forest set for big challenge over star players

If the Reds do get over the line and remain in the Premier League, Forest will have to watch their backs.

Financial fair play won’t just disappear. As a result, they will need to sell a player or two to avoid a points deduction next season.

Forest will have calls to fend over Murillo and Gibbs-White, with one of the star players set to depart in the summer.

Of those two players, it does feel like Gibbs-White would be harder to replace.

He’s got a seriously high ceiling and it will take a lot of money to tempt Forest into a sale during the summer.

In 78 appearances for Forest, he’s scored 11 goals and claimed 16 assists in the Premier League, alerting clubs to his quality.

Forest would dearly like to keep Gibbs-White beyond this summer but every player will have their price.

The Reds will face a challenge over their top attacking player and a first port of call needs to be for the club to remain in the Premier League.

If they do that they will stand every chance of keeping Gibbs-White but that isn’t a foregone conclusion for Forest.
